The first course in the EMS series functions as an introduction
to electronic music in general. As the title suggests, Music 80c
covers the technical and artistic history of electronic music
and provides the knowledge base necessary to compose with the
sophisticated tools found in the modern studio.

This survey of electronic music from previous centuries
to the present studies the works and aesthetics of important composers,
acoustics, musical perception, the effects of technological innovation
on cultural evolution, and the development of synthesizers and
computer music.
