Details: What to expect at the workshop
Class Schedule - Classes are held from 9:30am to 3pm daily, weekends and holidays inclusive. Afternoons and evenings are open lab times with instructors on hand. You may use as much lab time as you require to achieve your own workshop goals.
Housing - On-campus accommodations are relatively spartan; do not expect a hotel experience. You will have a private bedroom in an apartment shared with up to three other WACM participants. Each room has its own bed, desk, dresser, and closet. Cooking is not allowed in campus housing during the summer, but each apartment has a working refrigerator. Meals may be purchased at several campus dining halls ($10 to $12), campus cafes, or off campus. Bedding and towels are provided, and coin operated washing machines are nearby. You may check in on the Sunday before the first day of the workshop between 10:00 am - 9:00 pm. You may check out of the apartment as late as the day after the final class gathering. Apartments are a ten-minute walk from the workshop.
Packing - The weather varies from foggy and cool to sunny and in the 70's. Comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket are suggested. If you're staying in the campus apartments, you may want to bring a desk lamp, clock, and an ethernet cable if you have your own laptop. Cell phone reception on campus is spotty; if you're staying in the apartments there are live phone jacks that will get you local and toll-free access, but you'll need to bring your own phone and a calling card to make long distance calls.
Travel - The nearest airport to Santa Cruz is San Jose International (SJC). It's a 40-minute drive to campus. The next nearest airports are Oakland International and San Francisco. Please let the workshop coordinator know when you're planning to arrive in Santa Cruz. It may be possible to connect you with others arriving at a similar time -- perhaps you can share a shuttle.
Shuttle Services from Airports - Please make shuttle reservations in advance.

Parking - You won't need a car if you're staying on campus, but if you have one, you'll need to arrange to purchase a parking permit. Commuters can do the same. Parking is currently $6/day.

- Computers: Macintosh computers will be available for the workshop. If you'd rather work with your own Mac or PC laptop, please let us know in advance, and we'll set you up with required software and connectivity. The version of Lisp we're using this year works on pretty much any operating system.
- We'll have headphones for use with the computers, but if you have a comfortable pair you might want to bring them.
- The workshop is held in the Electronic Music Studios within the Music Center. The first class will start on Monday at 9:30 am, but come a little earlier at 9:00 for coffee and introductions.
