University and Community Outreach

Hosted by Don. G. Williams, Producer/Director
of African American Theater Arts Troupe/Rainbow Theater

It is our aim to give people who attend this workshop insightful ways of obtaining more students in their theater programs and building better relations with their surrounding community. The past six years the UCSC African American Theater Arts Troupe and Rainbow Theater have been effective tools for community outreach. We have hosted numerous workshops in high school as well as junior high school settings. Over the past six years these troupes have given over $20,000 in scholarships based on need, academic performance, and enrollment in the art field. One of the key functions to any successful theater program is one having a genuine awareness of various cultural needs and values and also creating opportunities for these deprived groups
