Cellular Automata Readme These are some examples of my on again, off again work with Cellular Automata. The paper gives some basic theory and suggests ways to generate interesting music from the things. (The web is full of applications that use CAs to generate uninteresting music.) This just dips a toe into the wild and wacky world of Cellular Automata (Wolfram has written 1200 pages about the things), but you may find some musically useful ideas here. The Example files are Max collectives for Macintosh-- you need Max/Msp/Jitter runtime (Free from www.cycling74.com) to run them. At the moment they will only run in the OS 9 version. You need the fullbat.wav file to run patterns. The objects used are not quite ready for prime time, but I'll get them out early in the summer, along with x versions of everything. pqe
