    INT - Bus - Day
A tourist is sitting in an aisle seat near the rear of the bus. Next
to him sits an old man looking out the window. A Long shot from the front of
the bus will introduce the two. The tourist is sitting with a map folded out
across his lap(close-up), a backpack between his legs on the floor(close-up),
and appears to be marking areas he would like to visit. Street noises and the
bus's engine can be heard. The old man looks over at him and begins talking.

                Old Man
Always remember to look around when you are in a big city like this.
There is so much a tourist, like yourself, will miss because he is only
concerned about the big things to see in the city. There are more things to
life than the big things.

Opening Credits.

EXT - City Street - Day
Extreme long shot of a bus driving away to reveal the tourist
standing on the curb of the street. The tourist appears to be lost, noting
the open map in his hands. A medium shot of the tourist and the map will be
followed by the tourist looking at the map (P.O.V.), then the tourist looking
to the left (P.O.V.) and to the right (P.O.V.). To his right he spots a
comfortable looking bench and decides to seat himself and have a look around
this area of the street. This will be followed by P.O.V. shots of the street
and the people walking up and down it. While seated two inebriated men walk
up to the bench he is sitting on. One of the men is wearing a shirt with a
big American flag on it while the other is wearing a GAP t-shirt. They both
point and laugh at the tourist, making rude, incomprehensible jokes.  Noting
the map and backpack, the two men figure him to be a tourist and decide to
teach him about local policy.

                Man #1
Hey, do you have permission to be sitting here?

                Tourist
        I beg your pardon?

                Man #2
(sarcastically) I beg your pardon. Sissy Mary!

                Man #1
Get out of here foreigner. This is our bench.(acting macho)

The tourist looks up at the two men, and noting their state picks up
his things and heads down the street with the two men laughing and giving
each other high fives in the background. The tourist turns the corner and
wipes his brow, looks over his shoulder and continues down the street.

    INT - Bus - Day
The tourist is standing in the aisle of the bus. The bus is full and
he has given his seat up to an elderly woman. The old man is still sitting in
the window seat and is talking with the woman.

                Old Man
I had a friend once by the name of Jesus, real nice guy, always wore
robes. He was always talking about how his religion was so grand and how it
made him feel so whole and in good spirits. I would listen to his talks on
God, but one day he was very angry because a new church had opened up and he
was afraid that the ideals would contaminate his neighborhood. He would
picket and had out fliers about how the new church was corrupting the souls
of our community. I asked him why he did this and he said that their church
wasn't God's way, and I looked at him and said, "Do you remember the Romans?"
The woman looks at the old man in a confused manor.
    EXT - Church - Day
The tourist is standing in front of a huge stained glass window of
Jesus rising to the heavens. In front of him is a large door. He opens the
door and walks into the church, which opens into a reception hallway, and
then into the main hall. P.O.V. shots of statues and stained glass walls on
the left and right will be cross-cut with the tourist entering the churches
main room. This will be followed by a wide angle shot of the tourist sitting
in a pew looking towards the alter.

    EXT - Cemetery - Day
As the tourist walks out of the church, 10 yards away is a cemetery.
The tourist walks over too and through the cemetery looking at the grave
stones and the statues that fill it's area. These images will them be
cross-cut with images from inside the church, such as the alter, the tourist
and the entrance to the church.

    INT - Bus - Day
The tourist is now sitting next to the old man again. The map has
disappeared and the tourist appears to be sharing some nutritional bar with
the old man. The bus has emptied out quite a bit, so the only people sitting
in it are the driver, the tourist and the old man. As they eat, the old man
starts speaking.

                Old Man
Have you ever seen a foreign film in it's own country, or better have
you seen a film made in your country in a foreign land? It is an experience
for the viewer. The language being dubbed, the patrons speaking a different
language,  being able to buy beer from the dopey pock marked face kid at the
concession stand. (Pause) It's the little nuances that make you feel far from
home. (Looking down at the bar) I wonder if they make these things in liquor
flavors? (Pause, then looking up at the tourist) Have you ever been to the
cinema? (Final line will carry over to the next scene)

EXT - Movie Theater - Day
Tourist is shown from a long shot walking up to the ticket counter
outside a movie theater. A close-up of the tickets being handed over to the
tourist will be followed by a pan shot of the tourist walking from the window
to the front door and then into the main lobby.

INT - Movie Theater - Day
The tourist is walking down a long hallway towards the theater
itself. He walks past marques advertising current and soon to be released
films. He enters the theater and sits down towards the middle of the theater
in an aisle seat. The next image is a coke advertisement and more such
advertisements before a show. i.e. "Lets all go to the lobby, lets all go to
the lobby......etc."

    INT - Bus - Day
The tourist has switched seats with the old man. The tourist has put
on a beanie with a patch on the side of it. The patch is of an anarchist
symbol which the old man scoffs at muttering "damn commie" under his breath.
The old man looks away towards the front of the bus, and then back to the
tourist.

                Old Man
Thank you for switching seats. It'll be easier when my stop comes up.

                Tourist
        No Problem sir.

                Old Man
So now, why are you traveling?

                Tourist
I'm going back to school in the fall and this was my only opportunity
to travel, so I took it.

                Old Man
Ah, school. So many people say it is so hard, but in reality it
isn't. Remember this when you're bogged down with school work. Negative is
easier to approach than positive. Never study one subject and think of
another, you will forget and then fear and mental fatigue set in and you
freak out or blank out. Exams are easy. When your mind is relaxed, it is more
creative and flows with knowledge. You may be only to hold a little
knowledge, but it will flow better than more knowledge and a stressed out
mind.

The bus comes to halt and it is the old mans stop, The tourist and
the old man say their goodbyes, and the old man exits the bus and is lost to
the masses on the street. The Tourist sits back down in the seat and looks
out the window. A medium shot is taken as the doors close, and the camera
pans to see the bus drive away down the street. The camera then pans to the
right and written on the wall in paint reads the sentence "I met a man on a
bus one day, and he told me everything I will ever need to know to get
through life."
