The man:         [He gets up and puts his hands into his pockets.  He finds a key in his right pocket and three dollar in the other pocket.  He curiously looks at them, then put them back to his pockets.  He starts to walk as he looks around the woods. He walks into the fog.]

Scene 2.

A road running through the woods and a coffee shop by the road.  Cars running on the road.  Few cars out side of the coffee shop.  Through the windows, we see some people eating and drinking coffee.  There are signs on the windows which read “coffee”, “dinner”, and “open”.

Interior of the coffee shop.  There are some people having breakfast.  At the one of the table, we see two men, John and Dan.  At another table, we see a couple, Dave and Jennifer.  We see also see a bar with stools.

The man:         [Enters to the coffee shop.  Looks around the coffee shop to see what the purpose of the place is.  On the bar, he finds an empty coffee cup and a dollar bill by the cup.  He walks towards to the seat by the window and sits.  He takes a dollar bill from his pocket, straitens, and gently puts in front of him.]

The waitress:  [She walks to the man’s table, and puts a coffee and picks up the bill without saying anything.  Then she leaves.]

At the table behind the man, there is John and Dan sitting having breakfasted.

Dan:                “I’m gonna quit this shit, you know.”

John:               [eating] “what do you mean?  You gonna give it up or what?”

Dan:                “Look, it has been three months, and no luck.”

John:               “But how many did you applied?”

Dan:                [drinking coffee and puts it down] “Enough to know that they are all bastards.  I mean, you know, I’m an honest decent man.  I can work much harder than any of those men out there.”

                        [He looks outside.]

[Silence]

Dan:                [looks at John] “you know, I think, I may be too honest.  I might talk out about issues and stuff too much… But I don’t think that’s a bad thing.  It’s a good thing to have opinions.  I’m an intelligent man, you know.  I think that’s why I got fucked at the last place I worked.  A man like me does not fit to today’s society.  People don’t appreciate opinions no more.”

John:               “you were working at Tower Records, right?”

Dan:                [silent]

John:               “yeah, I hate Tower Records any ways.  Too expensive.”

The other table next to the man’s table, there are Dave and Jennifer.

Dave:               “No, Pepsi is too sweet.”

Jennifer:          “That’s why I like it.  Coke is not tasty enough.”

Dave:               “Tasty?  I am not expecting tasty from a soda.  Soda is all about its refreshing taste.”

The man:         [He is still drinking coffee, as he watches outside.]

Patty:              [feeling uneasy] “Yeah… I know what you mean… but you know, oh… I don’t know.  I just think----“

There are two men, Jeff and Billy walking fast to the same direction as The Man.

Jeff:                 [with a lot of hand gestures] “So anyway, I had to get my ass back to my fucking apartment, just to pick up my wallet.”

Billy:               “Man, that’s sucks, for after all you went through.”

Jeff:                 “I know, so then, after that, I got back on my car, and drove to school.  But you know how it is, of course, the parking was packed.  I had to walk for a mile to get to the damn class.”

Billy:               “Shit, man.  Hey, but you know, at least your truck’s been running good these days.”
