Concert Choir

The Concert Choir at UCSC is a 60-voice ensemble made up of music majors, students from other departments on campus, and community members. The ensemble has performed a wide range of chamber works, folk songs, and major works with orchestra. Repertoire of the UCSC Concert Choir under Margaret Martin Kvamme's baton has included Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Mozart's Mass in C K. 337, Lauridsen's Four Madrigals on Renaissance Texts, Respighi's Lauda per la Nativita del Signore, Brahms' Neue Liebeslieder, and Orff's Carmina Burana (performed under the direction of Nicole Paiement). In the Spring Quarter of 2000, the ensemble is preparing Vincent Persichetti's Celebrations for Wind Ensemble and Choir, and Leonard Bernstein's French Choruses from the Lark.

Auditions for the Fall Quarter will be held September 18-21, 20000. The audition lasts 10 minutes and consists of brief vocalizing, a short sight reading exercise and a tonal memory test. There is no need to prepare a solo. You may sign up on the ensemble bulletin board on the lower level of the Music Center.
