Research Interests
Professor Soussloff’s general research area is the historiography, theory, and philosophy of art in the European tradition from the Early Modern period to the present. Recent areas of publication have included: Viennese art and culture in the early 20th century, performance theory and visual culture, the history of the discipline of art history, the theory of painting in Italy and France in the 17th century, Jewish studies, and theories of media. Professor Soussloff has also written on Italian Renaissance art theory and sculpture, film, and photography.
