I am a leading expert on women and early film culture, currently writing a book on Lois Weber, one of  Hollywood’s top director/screenwriters during the silent era.


Recent Activities

  1. Attending the Domitor conference of early cinema historians in Brighton, England where I am presenting my research on Lois Weber’s early career.


  1. Attending Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna, Italy where I have curated a retrospective of Lois Weber’s work.

  2. My chapter on “Women and the Silent Screen” was just published in the new multi-volume Wiley-Blackwell History of American Film.
