| Karlton Hester's history performances
ranges from premieres of his compositions with Hesterian Musicism
to solo performances, small and large ensembles with instruments not
usually found in the "jazz" idiom, and more recently also
guest appearances at Savanna Jazz Club and Les Joulins in San Francisco,
and as musical director of the Fillmore Jazz Preservation Big Band.
Although the majority of his performances involve presentations of
his own works, he has performed in concerts performing works of other
composers of "jazz" classics, European "classical"
repertoire, African music (Mamadou Diabate, Samite Mulondo, Obo Addy)
and spontaneous composition.
