Waiting Room 1990

25’ x 18’ x 14’ installation with steel, wood, beeswax, chicken eggs, water and paint.

The gallery was divided into two rooms, one room outside of the other. The outer-room had three large benches (96” x 24” x 27”) with two carved troughs on either end, lined with beeswax and filled with water. The inner-room had two more of the same large benches, a steel floor and a custom fabricated incubator. On the bottom of the incubator were the same beeswax troughs filled with water, only here it is to keep the incubator humid. The waiting room was simply a place to sit and wait with anticipation for something to happen.
