Silvia Martins has danced and toured world-wide with several New York based companies including The Limon Dance Company; Annabelle Gamson Dance Solos and Molissa Fenley and Dancers. She danced for the Mark Morris Dance Group at the Monnaie Opera House in Brussels, Belgium where she appeared with the company in a film about Mr. Morris for London television. Ms. Martins also appeared with Molissa Fenley and Dancers in the PBS television series "Alive From Off Center."

Born in Monte Grande, Argentina, she received a B. F. A. in Theater Arts from Santa Clara University and an M.F.A. in Modern Dance from the University of Utah. Ms. Martins is currently a Lecturing Professor of Modern Dance at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has also been a guest artist at the University of Utah, The University of Minnesota, and Arizona State University, and at Stanford University. Ms. Martins has been commissioned to choreograph for the repertory dance companies of the University of Utah and McAllister College in Minneapolis. She has also created several dance works at UC Santa Cruz and for Theater Artaud's Summertime Dance Series. Ms. Martins has been a panelist for the California Arts Council and the Santa Cruz Cultural Council.
