MacArthur Blvd.

i ran and ran fast as I was capable of running
i ran hard even inside a small thin body
i ran for breath and growth
I ran because I had to go!

when my daddy died
i had a nervous breakdown
i was all shook up,
until that window of pain shattered inside.
ever since that night i been on a shard diet

that is the truth
that is my life
running because I had to go

running ceaselessly from an early grave!
and don’t you know all those years running
made the man standing in front of you today.

that child, that adolescent, that running man
was a husband dying
and the dead end of a mothers story.
