chaotic dissipation

the ordered arrangement of pixels in an image sequence progressively degrades into disorder or "noise" -- the process can be reversed noise is returned to order a recognizable image emerges.

send

internet participants were allowed to send sounds and images which were processed for use in the brain opera performance. images sent via the internet were processed using the "pic-cell" image algorithm for use in the performance video.

play

internet participants were able to add and manipulate sounds during live Brain Opera performances using and interactive interface. This interface allowed participants to manipulate a "physical" system. animated words and images represented nodes in the system. each "node" exhibited behaviors and tendencies. A participant was able to perturb the system - or disturb its natural tendencies by selecting and moving the nodes. this interface was displayed live on the center screen during the beginning of the third movement of the Brain Opera performance. sounds were activated when nodes were selected --->
