Panel Discussion: Tuesday, April 11, 2000

Baskin Visual Arts Seminar Room

The moderator for the panel discussion is Gail Wight. She teaches Intermedia and
Electronic Art at Mills College and is a conceptual artist whose work focuses on
cognition and the history of science. Nationally known artists selected for the panel
are: Susan Schwartzenberg, mixed media artist, and the Senior Artist at the
Exploratorium in San Francisco, Elliot Ross, and Donna Leigh Schumacher, curator,
and architect. San Francisco scientists working in the field invited for the panel are:
Kristine Yaffe, assistant professor of Psychiatry, Neurology, and Epidemiology,
UCSF and Director of the Memory Disorders Clinic, SFVA, and Lucia Jacobs,
assistant professor of psychology from the Univeristy of California, Berkeley.

"The artists who comprise 'Neural Notations,' . . . interpret the brain's orders, and disorders, conveying a sense that the organ is similar to the cosmos: compelling and complex, but in the end still a colossal mystery." as stated by, Colin Berry in a review of Neural Notations at the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery.

Gallery hours are Tuesday - Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
