Out Inside. came about because our campus and Porter College were scheduled to host the UCLGBTA Annual Conference Exposed! The organizers of that conference generously approached the Sesnon Gallery with an invitation to participate in some way. We jumped at the chance! After discussing the many goals of the UCLGBTA (greater faculty visibility and involvement being one of them) and our own goals for the Sesnon Gallery (to produce exciting, professional, critically-engaged exhibitions), we decided that a UC-wide, queer, visual art faculty show was a great answer. Not only would it fulfill these goals, but it would be a wonderful opportunity for the UCSC campus and the larger Santa Cruz community to see experimental works of art by some of the most interesting artists working today.

The Sesnon Gallery would like to thank the artists and lenders to Out Inside. for their enthusiasm, generosity, flexibility and for making this exhibition possible. Thanks too, to Jordy Jones and Stafford for the design and creation of our announcements and website. It was a true pleasure working with such professional and creative individuals.
