  Rewards for composition include two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (1985 & 1989), the New England Council for the Arts (1986), Staten Island Council for the Arts (1990-91), a NOVA Award for a children's music video (Staten Island Community TV, 1991), a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship at Cornell University (1991), William Grant Still Memorial Commission Project (1992), two consecutive awards for performances in Bolivia from Arts International (1994 & 95) and another for travel to South Africa (2002), George and Elza Howard Foundation (1996), Meet the Composer (1994-2000), ASCAP Standard Awards (since 1985), as well inclusion in several editions of Marquis' Who's Who.
