Silvia Martins has danced in the companies of Jose' Limon, Mark Morris, Molissa Fenley and Annabelle Gamson in New York and abroad. She is a dancer/ teacher/ choreographer who now performs as soloist and lectures on Modern Technique and Composition for the Theater Arts Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Her repertory includes works choreographed for her by Alonzo King, Mel Wong, Remy Charlip and Tere O'Connor, as well as classic older works by Doris Humphrey and Molissa Fenley. As a soloist she has performed to critical acclaim throughout the United States and her choreography has been seen in California, Minnesota and Utah.

As a performer, Ms. Martins collaborates in the restoration of great works of the past, and she supports the work of the wide-ranging choreographic styles and vision of the modern choreographers with whom she has worked. Her technique and experience has produced stunning performances of these works in full-evening solo concerts.

Ms. Martins has also taught master classes and workshops in the US and Abroad and she has been a panelist for the California Arts Council and for the Santa Cruz Cultural Council. She has a B.A. in Theater Arts from Santa Clara University and an M.F.A. in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.
